The study of history helps to develop a global perspective and an enhanced understanding of the processes of interaction, diversification and rapid change in today’s world. Upon completion of this course, students should have mastered higher-order thinking skills, such as historical interpretation and analysis that will enable them to appreciate where they stand in the long flow of human history. Department of Chinese History
Using the pedagogy of “connecting points with a line”, the department of Chinese History hopes to offer students a vivid depiction of every historic era, with the inter-relations of major events being explained in a detailed manner. This unique approach to the study of Chinese History helps to build up students’ historical knowledge and develop their skills of analysis and synthesis. Apart from historical knowledge, the study of the subject also aims at cultivating students’ humanistic spirit.
